These Christmas Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, buttery, and filled with melty chocolate chips and colorful holiday candies. Perfect for cookie exchanges, Christmas parties, or cozy winter nights by the tree!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup red and green M&M’s (holiday mix)
  • 2 tablespoons festive sprinkles (red, green, and white, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, then add the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually combine the dry ingredients with the wet mixture until just blended.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and M&M’s, saving a few for decoration.
  7. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie onto the prepared sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  8. Top each cookie with a few extra M&M’s and sprinkles for a festive touch.
  9. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until the edges turn golden and the centers remain soft.
  10. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.

Festive Variations

  • Add white chocolate chips for a snowy look.
  • Sprinkle in crushed candy canes for a peppermint twist.
  • Mix in mini marshmallows for a gooey, s’mores-inspired treat.
