Butter Cookies (Just 4 Ingredients!)
These simple, classic butter cookies come together in minutes — no fancy equipment needed! Perfect for beginners, quick snacks, or gifting during the holidays.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (2 sticks / 225 g) unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup powdered sugar (or your favorite low-carb sweetener if preferred)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (or almond flour for a low-carb version)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
(Optional: a pinch of salt if using unsalted butter)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. - Cream the butter and sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.
You can use a hand mixer or mix by hand with a spatula. - Add vanilla and flour:
Mix in the vanilla extract, then gradually add the flour.
Stir until a soft dough forms — it should be smooth but not sticky. - Shape the cookies:
Roll the dough into small balls (about 1 inch each).
Place them on the baking sheet and gently flatten with a fork or your fingertips. - Bake:
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
(Keep an eye on them — they bake quickly!) - Cool and serve:
Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Optional Add-Ins & Variations:
- Dip half the cookie in melted chocolate for a fancier version.
- Add lemon zest or almond extract for a twist in flavor.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar once cooled for a festive look.
Result: Buttery, crumbly, and delicately sweet — these cookies taste just like the ones from a bakery, but take only a few minutes to make. Perfect with tea, coffee, or as a quick treat anytime.
