Ritz Cracker Toffee

Crispy, chocolatey, buttery — and incredibly addictive!

Ingredients:

  • 1 box Ritz crackers
  • ½ cup butter (unsalted or salted)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional, for topping)

Detailed Instructions:

1. Prepare the baking tray

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  • Arrange the Ritz crackers in a single, even layer, covering the entire sheet.

2. Make the toffee mixture

  • In a small saucepan, add the butter and brown sugar.
  • Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the butter melts.
  • Once melted, bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  • Allow it to boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly so it doesn’t burn.
    The mixture should thicken slightly and look smooth and bubbly.

 

 

3. Pour the toffee over the crackers

  • Carefully pour the hot toffee mixture over the Ritz crackers.
  • Use a spatula to spread it evenly, covering as many crackers as possible.

4. Bake

  • Place the tray in the oven and bake for 5–7 minutes.
  • The toffee will bubble and spread further over the crackers.

5. Add the chocolate

  • Remove the tray from the oven.
  • Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee.
  • Let them sit for 2–3 minutes until they melt.
  • Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate into a smooth layer.

6. Add finishing touches

  • Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top for extra flavor (optional).
  • Allow the toffee to cool completely at room temperature, or place it in the fridge to speed up the setting.

7. Break and serve

  • Once fully set and firm, break the toffee into pieces.
  • Enjoy the sweet, salty, buttery crunch!
