Jolly Rancher Moonshine

Ingredients (per batch/flavor):

  • 10 Jolly Ranchers of the same color, unwrapped
  • 14–16 oz (415–475 ml) vodka or Everclear

Supplies Needed:

  • 16 oz (pint-size) mason jar

 

 

 

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Candy:
    Remove the Jolly Ranchers from their wrappers.
  2. Add to Jar:
    Place the candies in the bottom of the mason jar. Use separate jars for different flavors.
  3. Add Alcohol:
    Pour the vodka or Everclear into the jar, leaving about 1/2 inch of headspace at the top.
  4. Steep:
    Store the jar in a cool, dark place (a pantry works well) for 1 week. For a quicker infusion, shake the jar every 30 minutes for a few hours—the candy may dissolve in 8–10 hours for a strong flavor.
  5. Optional Mid-Steep Shake:
    If letting the jar steep for the full week, give it a good shake around day 3 or 4 to mix the contents.
  6. Adjust Flavor:
    For a stronger fruity taste, add a few extra candies. For a milder flavor, use fewer candies.
  7. Strain and Store:
    After steeping, strain the liquid through a fine-mesh strainer into a clean mason jar. Discard any leftover candy or use it to start a new batch.

 

 

Prep Tips:

  • Clean-Up: If candy sticks to the jar, soak with hot water and a squirt of dish soap; it should come clean easily.
  • Serving Suggestions: This moonshine tastes great mixed with lemon-lime soda (like Sprite or 7-Up) or cream soda.
