Chocolate Chip Caramel Butter Bars

Chocolate Chip Caramel Butter Bars

Rich, buttery bars loaded with chocolate chips and a sweet caramel twist—perfect for dessert or a sweet snack!

Ingredients:

For the Base & Bars:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Caramel Layer:

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk or 1 cup prepared caramel sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
    • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until combined.
    • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  3. Form the Base Layer:
Press about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan to form a solid base.
  4. Add the Caramel Layer:
Spread the sweetened condensed milk or prepared caramel sauce evenly over the cookie dough layer.
  5. Top Layer:
Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the caramel layer. It’s okay if some caramel peeks through.
  6. Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and set.
  7. Cool & Slice:
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares or rectangles.

  1. Serve:
Enjoy these rich, gooey chocolate chip caramel butter bars as a dessert or snack with a glass of milk or coffee.
