4-Ingredient Slow Cooker Kielbasa and Cabbage
There’s nothing quite like a warm, hearty meal after a long day. This simple slow cooker dish delivers tender cabbage, juicy kielbasa, and sweet onions simmered together in a light, savory broth — comforting, flavorful, and incredibly easy.
Ingredients (Serves 4–6)
1½ pounds kielbasa, sliced into ½-inch rounds
1 small head green cabbage (about 2–2½ pounds), cored and roughly chopped
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth (or water)
Time
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 5–6 hours on LOW or 3–4 hours on HIGH
Total Time: About 5–6 hours
Yield: 4–6 servings
Directions
1️⃣ Prep the Vegetables
Core the cabbage and chop it into large bite-size pieces.
Slice the onion thinly.
2️⃣ Layer in the Slow Cooker
Place the chopped cabbage in the bottom of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker.
Scatter the sliced onion evenly over the cabbage.
Arrange the sliced kielbasa on top of the vegetables.
3️⃣ Add the Broth
Pour the chicken broth evenly over everything. The liquid will help steam the cabbage and blend all the flavors together.
4️⃣ Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 5–6 hours
OR
Cook on HIGH for 3–4 hours
The cabbage should be tender and the kielbasa heated through.
5️⃣ Stir & Serve
Gently stir before serving to distribute juices and flavors.
Taste and adjust with salt and pepper if needed.
Serve hot with crusty bread, mashed potatoes, or even over rice.
Optional Add-Ons (If You Want Extra Flavor)
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
1 tablespoon butter for extra richness
A splash of apple cider vinegar at the end for brightness
Simple ingredients. Big comfort. Minimal effort.
