Banana Moonshine Cream Liqueur (Legal Homemade Version)
Smooth • Sweet • Dessert-like • Perfect over ice or with cream soda
Ingredients
For the Banana Base
4 ripe bananas
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 cups water
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1 pinch salt
For the Alcohol
2–3 cups high-proof neutral alcohol (Everclear, neutral grain spirit, or strong vodka)
Adjust to taste depending on how strong you want it.
For a Creamy Version (Optional)
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup heavy cream or half-and-half
Instructions
1. Make the Banana Syrup
1. Slice the bananas.
2. In a pot, add bananas, brown sugar, white sugar, water, cinnamon, and salt.
3. Heat on medium, stirring until the sugars melt.
4. Simmer 10–12 minutes until the mixture thickens and smells like caramelized banana.
5. Remove from heat and let cool.
2. Strain
Pour the mixture through a fine strainer or cheesecloth.
Press gently to extract as much banana flavor as possible.
Discard solids.
(This prevents fermentation and makes the drink shelf-stable.)
3. Mix With Alcohol
Combine the cooled banana syrup with your chosen alcohol.
Add vanilla extract.
Taste and adjust:
Too strong? Add a bit of water or more syrup.
Too sweet? Add more alcohol.
4. Optional: Make It Creamy
If you want the cream soda / dessert version:
1. Whisk condensed milk + heavy cream together.
2. Stir into the banana-alcohol mixture.
3. Chill in fridge.
(Creamy version must be refrigerated and used within 10–14 days.)
