Prep Time

10 minutes + resting time

Serves

4–6 people (as an appetizer)

Ingredients

Olive Oil Dip

½ cup extra-virgin olive oil (good quality makes a big difference)

2 cloves garlic, finely minced or grated

1 teaspoon dried basil

1 teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

½ teaspoon salt (sea salt or kosher preferred)

¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For Serving

Balsamic vinegar (traditional or aged)

French baguette, sliced and lightly toasted (optional but recommended)

Instructions

1️⃣ Mix the Dip

In a small bowl, add the olive oil.

Stir in the minced garlic, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.

Mix well until evenly combined.

2️⃣ Let the Flavors Bloom

Cover the bowl and let the mixture rest for at least 30 minutes at room temperature.

For deeper flavor, let it sit for 1–2 hours or refrigerate overnight (bring to room temperature before serving).

3️⃣ Prepare for Serving

Pour the olive oil mixture into a shallow serving dish.

Drizzle lightly with balsamic vinegar, or serve balsamic on the side for dipping.

Arrange sliced baguette around the dish.
