Vanilla Light Cream
Easy, quick, and very tasty!
If there is one dessert that suits every occasion, it’s Vanilla Light Cream. This smooth and delicate treat is perfect for anyone looking for something creamy, simple, and not too heavy. With just a few ingredients and an easy preparation, it has become a favorite in many homes — especially when you want a sweet treat without overindulging.
Light, silky, and gently flavored with vanilla, this cream can be enjoyed plain, topped with fruit, biscuits, chocolate sauce, or used as a filling for cakes and tarts.
Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
250 ml (1 cup) milk
1 egg
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or 1 small vanilla bean)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Base
In a saucepan (while still cold), whisk together:
The egg
Sugar
Cornstarch
Mix until smooth and lump-free.
2️⃣ Add the Milk
Gradually pour in the milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps.
3️⃣ Cook the Cream
Place the saucepan over medium-low heat.
Stir constantly with a whisk or wooden spoon.
After about 5–7 minutes, the mixture will begin to thicken into a smooth cream.
Keep stirring to prevent sticking or burning.
4️⃣ Add Vanilla
Once thickened, remove from heat.
Stir in the vanilla extract (or scraped vanilla bean seeds). Mix well.
5️⃣ Cool and Serve
Pour into serving bowls.
Cover the surface with plastic wrap (touching the cream) to prevent a skin from forming.
Let cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
Serving Ideas
Top with fresh strawberries or banana slices
Add crushed cookies or biscuits
Drizzle with chocolate or caramel sauce
Use as a filling for cakes, pastries, or tart shells
Tips
For a richer texture, replace 2–3 tablespoons of milk with cream.
For a lighter version, use low-fat milk.
You can double the recipe easily for more servings.
