Ingredients

Cream Layer

12 oz block-style cream cheese, softened to room temperature

¾ cup powdered sugar, sifted

⅓ cup whole milk

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

8 oz frozen whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed

Cake Layer

1 pre-baked angel food cake (about 15 oz), torn into ¾–1 inch bite-size pieces

Fruit Layer

2 cans cherry pie filling (21 oz each – 42 oz total)

Equipment Needed

Large mixing bowl

Hand mixer or stand mixer

Rubber spatula

9×13-inch glass or ceramic dish

Plastic wrap or foil

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare the Cream Base

In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese on medium speed until completely smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed.

2️⃣ Sweeten & Flavor

Add the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Beat until the mixture is silky smooth with no lumps.

3️⃣ Fold in Whipped Topping

Using a spatula, gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until light, fluffy, and fully combined. Do not overmix.

4️⃣ Build the Cake Layer

Spread the torn angel food cake pieces evenly across the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish. Lightly press down to create an even base.

5️⃣ Add the Cream Layer

Spoon the cream mixture evenly over the cake layer. Smooth the top gently with a spatula.

6️⃣ Finish with Cherries

Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the cream layer, making sure it fully covers the surface.

7️⃣ Chill & Set

Cover loosely with plastic wrap or foil. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours (4 hours is even better) to allow the layers to set.
