Cherry Moonshine

Cherry Moonshine

Ingredients

  • 1 pound cherries
  • 1/2 cup cherry juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 750 ml moonshine (Everclear or vodka also work well)
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cherry Simple Syrup

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, and cherry juice.
  • Stir until the sugar fully dissolves and the mixture becomes a smooth syrup.
  • Once ready, pour the syrup into a Mason jar and set it aside to cool.

2. Make the Cherry Moonshine

  • Add the cherries to a large mixing bowl.
  • Lightly mash them with a potato masher to release their juices.
  • Pour in the simple syrup, alcohol, and additional cherry juice. Mix everything together thoroughly.
  • Divide the mixture into clean jars, ensuring the cherries are evenly distributed.
  • Make sure the cherries are completely submerged in the liquid.
  • Seal the jars tightly and store them in a cool place.

Infusion Time

  • The longer it infuses, the better the flavor. A minimum of 3 days, but it can be aged for up to 1 year for maximum richness.

Final Step

  • Once infused to your liking, strain the mixture to remove skins and pulp (you can snack on them if you like!).

Enjoy!
