Classic Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Classic Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Soft, chewy, and filled with cozy cinnamon flavor — these oatmeal raisin cookies are the perfect balance of buttery sweetness and wholesome texture. Whether you’re baking for family, friends, or just a quiet afternoon treat, they’re the kind of cookie that never goes out of style.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar
- ½ cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 3 cups (270g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup (140g) raisins
Instructions:
- Cream the butter and sugars:
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture becomes light, fluffy, and pale in color. This step helps create that perfect chewy texture. - Add the wet ingredients:
Mix in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract for a hint of warmth and aroma. - Combine the dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, stirring just until combined — don’t overmix. - Fold in the good stuff:
Stir in the rolled oats and raisins until evenly distributed throughout the dough. The oats give the cookies their signature chewiness, while the raisins add natural sweetness. - Shape the cookies:
Scoop spoonfuls of dough (about 1½ tablespoons each) onto a parchment-lined baking tray, leaving space between each cookie. Gently flatten the tops with your fingers or the back of a spoon. - Bake to perfection:
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft. - Cool and enjoy:
Let the cookies rest on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving Tip:
Enjoy these cookies warm with a glass of milk or a cup of tea. They also make a wonderful homemade gift — simple, classic, and made with love.
