Classic Puppy Chow (aka Muddy Buddies!)
A crunchy, chocolatey, peanut-buttery snack coated in powdered sugar—easy to make and impossible to stop eating!

Ingredients
- 9 cups Chex cereal (rice or corn work best)
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup creamy peanut butter
- ¼ cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1½ cups powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the cereal
Place the Chex cereal in a large mixing bowl. Set aside. - Melt the chocolate mixture
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.
Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until fully melted and smooth. - Add vanilla
Stir in the vanilla extract until well combined. - Coat the cereal
Pour the warm chocolate mixture over the cereal.
Gently fold with a spatula until all pieces are evenly coated. - Add powdered sugar
Transfer the coated cereal into a large zip-top bag or a container with a lid.
Add the powdered sugar, seal, and shake until every piece is well coated. - Cool and serve
Spread the Puppy Chow onto parchment paper or a baking sheet to cool for a few minutes.
Once set, it’s ready to enjoy!
Tips & Variations (Optional)
- Use dark chocolate for a richer flavor
- Add a pinch of salt for sweet-salty balance
- Mix in mini marshmallows or pretzels after coating
