Crispy Baked Dill Pickle Pretzels

 

Tangy, crunchy, and packed with dill flavor, these baked pretzels are infused with pickle juice and herbs for a bold, zesty snack that’s perfect for parties, movie nights, or anytime cravings.

 

 

 

Ingredients

2½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)

2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)

1 tablespoon granulated sugar

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons dill pickle juice

1 tablespoon olive oil or melted butter

1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped

or 1 teaspoon dried dill

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ teaspoon onion powder

For the Baking Bath

 

 

 

6 cups water

2 tablespoons baking soda

For Topping

2 tablespoons melted butter

Coarse salt (to taste)

Extra dried dill or dill pickle seasoning (optional)

 

 

 

Directions

1. Activate the Yeast

In a large bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast.

Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

2. Make the Dough

Add flour, salt, pickle juice, olive oil, dill, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Mix until a dough forms, then knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

3. First Rise

Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

4. Shape the Pretzels

Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Divide dough into small pieces and roll into ropes. Twist into mini pretzels or pretzel bites.

5. Baking Soda Bath

Bring water to a boil and carefully add baking soda.

Drop pretzels into the water for 20–30 seconds, then remove and drain well.

6. Bake

Place pretzels on prepared baking sheet.

Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until deep golden brown.

7. Finish & Season

Brush hot pretzels with melted butter.

Sprinkle with coarse salt and extra dill seasoning if desired.
