Ingredients

1½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened applesauce

¾ cup granulated sugar

½ cup vegetable oil

2 large eggs

1 tsp baking soda

½ tsp baking powder

1 tsp ground cinnamon

¼ tsp ground nutmeg

¼ tsp ground cloves

1 tsp vanilla extract

Optional: butter for serving

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

2. Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.

In another bowl, whisk together applesauce, sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.

Gradually fold the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined. Do not overmix.

3. Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

Bake for 50–55 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

4. Serve

Slice and serve warm, optionally with a little butter for extra comfort.

Tips

For extra flavor, add ½ cup chopped walnuts or raisins.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 2–3 days, or refrigerate for up to a week.

This bread freezes well—slice and freeze for quick breakfasts.
