Chocolate Chip Caramel Butter Bars

Chocolate Chip Caramel Butter Bars
Rich, buttery bars loaded with chocolate chips and a sweet caramel twist—perfect for dessert or a sweet snack!
Ingredients:
For the Base & Bars:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
For the Caramel Layer:
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk or 1 cup prepared caramel sauce
Instructions:
- Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper. - Prepare the Dough:
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Form the Base Layer:
Press about two-thirds of the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan to form a solid base. - Add the Caramel Layer:
Spread the sweetened condensed milk or prepared caramel sauce evenly over the cookie dough layer. - Top Layer:
Crumble the remaining cookie dough over the caramel layer. It’s okay if some caramel peeks through. - Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden and set. - Cool & Slice:
Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares or rectangles.
- Serve:
Enjoy these rich, gooey chocolate chip caramel butter bars as a dessert or snack with a glass of milk or coffee.
