Garlic Pan Shrimp (Gambas al Ajillo / Scampi-Style)
Ingredients
- Shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Garlic cloves, thinly sliced
- Olive oil
- Red pepper flakes
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Lemon juice, plus lemon wedges for serving
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Butter (optional for added scampi-style richness)
- Crusty bread for dipping
Instructions
1. Season the Shrimp
Pat the shrimp dry, then lightly season with salt and black pepper.
2. Infuse the Oil
Heat a generous amount of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
Add the sliced garlic and cook until fragrant and lightly golden—avoid letting it burn.
3. Cook the Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the skillet.
Cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until pink and opaque.
Sprinkle in red pepper flakes and toss to coat.
4. Add Extra Flavor
Stir in a small pat of butter for richness (optional but highly recommended).
Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a sprinkle of chopped parsley.
5. Serve Immediately
Serve hot with crusty bread to soak up the garlicky oil.
