- Homemade Lemonade & Limoncello Recipe
Ingredients:
2 large boxes of organic lemons
$5 worth of sugar
$25 worth of vodka
Instructions
Prepare the Lemons: Start by squeezing the juice from all the lemons. Set the juice aside for lemonade concentrate and lemon water.
Lemonade Concentrate: In a large pot, combine the lemon juice with sugar (approximately 5 cups of sugar for every 10 cups of lemon juice). Heat the mixture until the sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally. Let it cool. This will make around 50 pints of lemonade concentrate.
Lemon Peel Candy: Take the peels from the lemons and cut them into strips. Boil them in a sugar syrup and then dry them. This will yield about 5 large batches of lemon peel candy.
Lemon Water: For a refreshing drink, mix lemon juice into cold water (1 cup of lemon juice for every 2 quarts of water). This will provide about 20 quarts of lemon water.
Lemon Simple Syrup: Create lemon simple syrup by boiling lemon juice and sugar together in a 1:1 ratio until it thickens. This will yield around 10 quarts of syrup.
Limoncello: To make limoncello, place lemon zest and vodka in a jar and let it infuse for several weeks. Once infused, strain it and sweeten with simple syrup. This process will result in nearly a gallon of limoncello.
Save the Lemon Seeds: Don’t discard the lemon seeds! Plant them to grow baby lemon trees, which will make lovely gifts in about a year or two.
