Oven Baked Chicken Wings

 

 

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs (1 kg) chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional for heat)
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder (optional — makes the wings extra crispy)

Instructions

1. Prep the Wings

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels (dry wings = crispy wings).
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
    Place a baking rack on top if you want maximum crispiness.

2. Make the Seasoning Mix

In a large bowl, combine:

  • Olive oil
  • Brown sugar
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder
  • Paprika
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Chili powder
  • Baking powder (optional but recommended)

Mix well.

3. Coat the Wings

  • Add chicken wings to the bowl.
  • Toss until every piece is fully coated in the seasoning mixture.

4. Bake

  1. Arrange wings in a single layer on the baking sheet (don’t overcrowd).
  2. Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway.
  3. For extra crispiness, broil the last 2–3 minutes — but watch closely!

5. Serve

Enjoy your wings as is, or toss them in:

  • BBQ sauce
  • Buffalo sauce
  • Honey garlic glaze
  • Lemon pepper butter

Serve with ranch, blue cheese, celery sticks, or fries.
