Oven Baked Chicken Wings
Ingredients
- 2 lbs (1 kg) chicken wings
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon chili powder (optional for heat)
- ½ teaspoon baking powder (optional — makes the wings extra crispy)
Instructions
1. Prep the Wings
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels (dry wings = crispy wings).
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Place a baking rack on top if you want maximum crispiness.
2. Make the Seasoning Mix
In a large bowl, combine:
- Olive oil
- Brown sugar
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Paprika
- Salt
- Pepper
- Chili powder
- Baking powder (optional but recommended)
Mix well.
3. Coat the Wings
- Add chicken wings to the bowl.
- Toss until every piece is fully coated in the seasoning mixture.
4. Bake
- Arrange wings in a single layer on the baking sheet (don’t overcrowd).
- Bake for 40–45 minutes, flipping halfway.
- For extra crispiness, broil the last 2–3 minutes — but watch closely!
5. Serve
Enjoy your wings as is, or toss them in:
- BBQ sauce
- Buffalo sauce
- Honey garlic glaze
- Lemon pepper butter
Serve with ranch, blue cheese, celery sticks, or fries.
