
Savory Puff Pastry with Minced Meat and Cheese

Ingredients
For the Filling
1 sheet puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
Butter or oil (for greasing)
1 medium onion, finely chopped
250–300 g minced meat (beef, chicken, or turkey)
1 tsp dried basil
½ tsp dried oregano (optional)
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
1–2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato sauce or ketchup (optional, for moisture)
1 cup grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)
For Assembly
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Sesame seeds or black seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prepare the Filling
Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little butter or oil.
Sauté the chopped onion until soft and translucent.
Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
Add the minced meat and cook until browned.
Season with salt, black pepper, basil, paprika, and oregano.
Stir in tomato sauce (if using) and cook for 2–3 minutes.
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
Mix in half of the grated cheese.
2️⃣ Assemble the Puff Pastry
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
Lightly grease a baking tray.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut into squares or rectangles.
Spoon some filling into the center of each piece.
Sprinkle a little extra cheese on top.
Fold the pastry (triangle, rectangle, or envelope shape).
Seal edges with a fork.
3️⃣ Bake
Place pastries on the tray.
Brush tops with beaten egg.
Sprinkle sesame or black seeds if desired.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
