Slow Cooker Barbequed Beef Ribs
Ingredients
- 3–4 pounds beef ribs, cut into 2–3 rib sections
- 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup ketchup
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- (Optional) A few drops of liquid smoke for extra smoky flavor
Instructions
- Prepare the Ribs
- Trim any excess fat from the beef ribs.
- Pat them dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Make the Barbecue Sauce
- In a medium bowl, mix together:
ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic, and onion. - Stir until well combined.
- In a medium bowl, mix together:
- Assemble in the Slow Cooker
- Place the chopped onion on the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Add the ribs on top.
- Pour the barbecue sauce mixture evenly over the ribs, coating them well.
- Cook
- Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours,
until the ribs are tender and the meat is starting to fall off the bone.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours,
- Optional – Broil for Extra Flavor
- For a caramelized finish:
- Preheat your oven’s broiler.
- Place cooked ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil.
- Brush with some of the sauce from the slow cooker.
- Broil for 3–5 minutes, until the edges are slightly crispy.
- Serve
- Spoon some of the remaining sauce from the slow cooker over the ribs before serving.
- Pair with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or cornbread for a perfect comfort meal.
