Snoop Dogg’s Slow Cooker Ribs

Snoop Dogg’s Slow Cooker Ribs

Ingredients:

For the Dry Rub:

  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

For the Ribs:

  • 3 to 4 pounds (about 1.5–2 kg) pork baby back ribs or spare ribs
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
    • Remove the thin silver membrane from the back of the ribs (this helps them get tender).
    • Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
  2. Make the Dry Rub:
    • In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne (if using).
    • Rub the mixture generously all over the ribs, coating both sides.
  3. Set Up the Slow Cooker:
    • Pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of your slow cooker.
    • Place the ribs inside (you can cut them into sections to fit if needed).
  4. Cook the Ribs:
    • Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the ribs are tender and the meat is nearly falling off the bone.
  5. Add the Barbecue Sauce:
    • Carefully remove the ribs and place them on a baking sheet lined with foil.
    • Brush generously with barbecue sauce.
    • (Optional) For a caramelized finish, place under the broiler for 5–7 minutes until the sauce bubbles and slightly chars.
  6. Serve & Enjoy:
    • Let the ribs rest for a few minutes.
    • Slice between the bones and serve hot with extra BBQ sauce on the side.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, marinate the ribs with the dry rub overnight before cooking.
  • You can replace the water with apple juice or cola for a sweeter, richer taste.
  • Try Snoop’s style: serve with cornbread, mac & cheese, and greens.
