Supercharged 10-Minute Weed Killer

Supercharged 10-Minute Weed Killer
Ingredients:
- 2 cups white vinegar (5–10% acidity; horticultural vinegar works best)
- 2 tablespoons table salt or sea salt
- 2 teaspoons liquid dish soap
Equipment:
- Spray bottle or watering can
- Gloves and protective eyewear
- Small funnel (optional, for easy pouring)
Instructions:
- Mix the solution:
In your spray bottle, combine vinegar, salt, and dish soap. Shake gently until the salt is fully dissolved. The dish soap helps the solution cling to the weed leaves. - Pick the perfect day:
Apply on a hot, sunny, and dry day. Sunlight speeds up the dehydration process, making weeds wilt faster. - Spray directly on weeds:
Thoroughly coat the entire leaf surface of each weed. Avoid spraying nearby plants, as this is a non-selective herbicide. - Observe the results:
Small weeds may start wilting within hours, while tougher weeds may take 1–2 days. For extremely stubborn weeds, repeat application after 24 hours. - Remove dead weeds:
Once they are brown and brittle, pull them out and dispose of them. The roots may need light digging for deep-rooted weeds.
Extra Tips for Maximum Effectiveness:
- Use undiluted vinegar for the toughest weeds, but be extra careful around desired plants.
- Avoid windy days to prevent drift onto flowers or vegetables.
- Repeat periodically to prevent new weeds from establishing.
- This solution is pet- and kid-safe if used on weeds only and applied carefully.
Pro Tip: The combination of vinegar + salt + soap accelerates dehydration, breaks down the waxy leaf coating, and makes the herbicide stick longer—essentially giving weeds a “one-way ticket” out of your garden.
