Creamy Bang Bang Shrimp
A crispy, spicy favorite that always steals the show—perfect for game nights, casual gatherings, or a cozy dinner at home.
Ingredients
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup cornstarch
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 2 tbsp chopped parsley or green onions (for garnish)
Bang Bang Sauce:
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- ¼ cup sweet chili sauce
- 1–2 tbsp Sriracha (adjust to your spice level)
- 1 tbsp honey or sugar
- 1 tsp rice vinegar or fresh lime juice
Instructions
1. Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, Sriracha, honey, and vinegar until smooth. This creamy, sweet-heat sauce is the star of the dish.
2. Coat the Shrimp
Add the shrimp to the buttermilk and toss to coat. In a separate bowl, combine the cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper. Dredge the shrimp in the dry mixture until fully coated for extra crunch.
3. Fry Until Crispy
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet to about 350°F (175°C). Fry the shrimp in batches for 2–3 minutes, or until golden and crisp. Transfer to paper towels to drain.
4. Toss with Sauce
While the shrimp are still warm, gently toss them with the Bang Bang sauce until evenly coated and glossy.
5. Garnish and Serve
Serve immediately, topped with chopped parsley or green onions. Enjoy as an appetizer or pair with rice or noodles for a satisfying meal.
