Irresistible Southern Sausage & Cream Cheese Pinwheels
These buttery, savory pinwheels are the kind of comfort food that vanish the moment they hit the table. Made with just three simple ingredients, they strike the perfect balance between rich sausage, creamy filling, and flaky pastry. Whether for a cozy Sunday dinner, brunch spread, or a casual gathering, this easy recipe delivers big flavor with minimal effort.
Ingredients (Serves 8)
1 tube refrigerated crescent roll dough
250–300 g breakfast sausage
200 g cream cheese (softened)
Instructions
Cook the Sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Break it into small crumbles as it cooks. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
Mix the Filling
In a bowl, combine the cooked sausage with the softened cream cheese. Stir until well blended and creamy.
Prepare the Dough
Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface and press the seams together to form one solid sheet.
Assemble the Pinwheels
Spread the sausage and cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough. Starting from one side, roll it up tightly into a log.
Slice & Bake
Cut the log into 2–3 cm slices and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve Warm
Let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm for the best flavor and texture.
Serving Ideas
Serve these pinwheels on a platter with fresh fruit, a crisp green salad, or scrambled eggs for a brunch-style meal. They also pair perfectly with comfort classics like mac and cheese or baked beans. For extra flavor, try serving them with ranch dressing or a touch of sweet pepper jelly on the side.
Simple, nostalgic, and incredibly satisfying—these pinwheels are guaranteed to become a repeat favorite!
