Juicy Sliced Tomatoes with Sea Salt

Juicy Sliced Tomatoes with Sea Salt & Cracked Black Pepper
Sometimes the simplest recipes are the most unforgettable. Sweet, sun-ripened tomatoes need little more than a sprinkle of flaky sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper to bring out their incredible natural flavor. Serve them as a refreshing appetizer, a light side dish, or pair them with crusty bread for an effortless summer snack.
Ingredients
– 1–2 large ripe tomatoes (heirloom, vine-ripened, or garden-fresh)
– Flaky sea salt or kosher salt, to taste
– Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
Optional Garnishes
– Extra virgin olive oil
– Fresh basil leaves
– A splash of balsamic glaze
– Thinly sliced red onion
– Fresh mozzarella for a Caprese-style twist
Instructions
1. Wash the tomatoes and pat them dry.
2. Slice them into ¼-inch (6 mm) thick rounds and arrange them on a serving plate.
3. Sprinkle generously with flaky sea salt.
4. Finish with plenty of freshly cracked black pepper.
5. If desired, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil and garnish with fresh basil or a touch of balsamic glaze.
6. Let the tomatoes rest for 5 minutes before serving so the salt enhances their sweetness and juiciness.
