Best Steak Marinade in Existence

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar (or red wine vinegar)
  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced (optional but recommended)
  • 1–2 tsp Dijon mustard (optional, adds depth)
  • 1–2 tsp black pepper
  • 1–2 tsp brown sugar or honey (optional, helps with caramelization)

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic, Dijon mustard, black pepper, and sugar/honey until well combined.
  2. Prepare the Steak:
Choose your favorite cut (ribeye, sirloin, or flank steak). Pat the steak dry with paper towels to help the marinade stick better.
  3. Marinate:
Place the steak in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish.

    Marinating Time:

    • Quick: 30 minutes at room temperature.
    • Best flavor: 4–6 hours in the refrigerator.
    • Maximum flavor: Overnight (up to 24 hours).
  4. Cook the Steak:
Remove steak from marinade and pat lightly with paper towels (this helps sear it properly).

    • Grill: Preheat to high heat, cook 4–6 minutes per side for medium-rare, depending on thickness.
    • Pan-sear: Heat a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan on high, sear 3–5 minutes per side, then finish in a 400°F oven if needed.
  5. Rest:
Let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes after cooking to allow juices to redistribute.

  1. Serve:
Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness. Optional: drizzle with a little leftover marinade reduced in a saucepan for extra flavor.

This marinade balances salty, sweet, tangy, and umami flavors for a steak that’s juicy and full of depth.
