These Tiramisu Cupcakes bring all the rich, creamy flavors of the classic Italian dessert into a light and fluffy cupcake form.
Each bite is perfectly balanced — soft coffee-infused cake topped with smooth mascarpone frosting and a dusting of cocoa.

Ingredients

For the Cupcakes

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup strong brewed coffee, cooled

For the Mascarpone Frosting

  • 8 oz (225g) mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cupcakes

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Gently fold in the cooled coffee until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners.
  8. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.

2. Make the Mascarpone Frosting

  1. In a large bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  2. Beat on low speed until everything is blended, then increase to high speed and whip until stiff peaks form.
    (Tip: Stop as soon as it thickens — overbeating can cause the mascarpone to curdle.)

3. Assemble the Tiramisu Cupcakes

  1. Once the cupcakes are completely cool, pipe or spread the mascarpone frosting generously on top.
  2. For that classic tiramisu flair, dust lightly with cocoa powder or top with chocolate shavings.
  3. Chill slightly before serving for a true tiramisu-like experience.
