Not Your Average Lemonade

Not Your Average Lemonade

1. Frosted Lemonade

Ingredients

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
  • ½ cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2½ cups cold water
  • 2–3 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
  • Ice cubes (optional, for a thicker texture)

Instructions

  1. In a pitcher, whisk together the lemon juice, sugar, and cold water until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  2. Taste the lemonade — it should be bold and slightly tart so it balances well with the ice cream.
  3. In a blender, add 1 cup of the lemonade and the vanilla ice cream.
  4. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  5. Add a few ice cubes if you prefer a thicker consistency, then blend again.
  6. Pour into a tall glass and enjoy immediately.

Quick Version

  • 1 cup prepared lemonade
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream
    Blend together and serve.

2. Colombian Coconut Limeade (Limonada de Coco)

Ingredients

  • ½ cup fresh lime juice (about 4–5 limes)
  • 1 can coconut milk
  • ¼ cup sweetened condensed milk or sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups ice
  • ½ cup cold water (optional, for desired consistency)
  • Lime slices and shredded coconut (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a blender, combine the lime juice, coconut milk, sweetened condensed milk (or sugar), and ice.
  2. Blend until smooth, creamy, and slightly frothy.
  3. If the mixture is too thick, add cold water and blend again.
  4. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  5. Pour into glasses, garnish if desired, and serve right away.

Variations

  • Lighter Version: Replace half of the coconut milk with coconut water.
  • Frozen Version: Use frozen coconut milk cubes instead of ice for a thicker, frostier drink.

3. Brazilian Limeade

Ingredients

  • 4 juicy limes, well washed and scrubbed
  • 6 cups cold water
  • 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Cut the limes into quarters, leaving the peel on but removing any visible seeds.
  2. Place the limes and water in a blender and blend briefly (about 10–15 seconds). Do not over-blend to avoid bitterness.
  3. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher, pressing gently to extract the juice. Discard the solids.
  4. Stir in the sugar and sweetened condensed milk until fully dissolved.
  5. Serve over ice and enjoy immediately for the freshest flavor.
