A classic, comforting dessert just like Grandma used to make
This traditional peach cobbler has a golden, buttery crust with warm, juicy peaches bubbling underneath. Simple ingredients, easy steps, and big homemade flavor.
Ingredients
For the Peach Filling
4 cups fresh peaches, peeled & sliced
(or canned peaches, well-drained)
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
½ cup for peaches
½ cup for batter
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
For the Batter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or similar casserole dish.
2️⃣ Prepare the Peaches
In a medium bowl, combine:
Sliced peaches
½ cup sugar
Cinnamon
Lemon juice
Stir gently to coat the peaches evenly.
Set aside to allow the juices to release.
3️⃣ Make the Batter
In a separate bowl, whisk together:
Flour
Baking powder
Salt
Remaining ½ cup sugar
Add:
Melted butter
Milk
Vanilla extract
Stir until smooth. The batter will be slightly thick but pourable.
4️⃣ Assemble the Cobbler
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish
Do NOT stir
Spoon the peach mixture evenly over the batter, including the juices
The batter will rise around the peaches while baking — that’s the magic!
5️⃣ Bake
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until:
The top is golden brown
The edges are bubbling
A toothpick inserted into the crust comes out clean
6️⃣ Cool & Serve
Let the cobbler cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
Serve warm with:
Vanilla ice cream
Whipped cream
Or enjoy it plain — it’s perfect either way!
Tips & Variations
Add ¼ teaspoon nutmeg for extra warmth
Sprinkle brown sugar on top before baking for a caramelized crust
Use frozen peaches (thawed & drained) when fresh aren’t available
Double the recipe for a 9×13-inch pan for gatherings
