Golden Soft Homemade Bread (Better Than Bakery!)
Once you try this recipe, you’ll never feel the need to buy store-bought bread again. It’s incredibly soft, wonderfully fluffy, and fills your kitchen with the most comforting aroma. Fresh out of the oven with a touch of warm butter—pure perfection!
Ingredients
1 cup warm milk
½ cup warm water
2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
¼ cup sugar
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
4 to 4½ cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
Activate the Yeast
In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
Mix the Dough
Add the melted butter and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
Knead
Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
First Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Dough
Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf (or rolls, if you prefer). Place it into a greased baking pan.
Second Rise
Cover and let it rise again for about 30–40 minutes, until puffy.
Bake
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
Finish & Serve
Brush the top with a little melted butter for a soft crust. Let it cool slightly, then slice and enjoy warm.
Tips for the Best Bread
Make sure your liquids are warm, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
For extra softness, brush butter on top right after baking.
This bread is perfect for sandwiches, toast, or simply on its own.
There’s nothing quite like homemade bread—simple, comforting, and absolutely delicious.
