Soft Pita Bread Recipe (No Yeast)
Ingredients:
- 350g all-purpose flour, plus 10–20g extra for dusting
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 200ml hot water
Instructions:
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine 350g flour and salt. Mix well. - Add Wet Ingredients:
Add the vegetable oil to the flour mixture. Gradually pour in the hot water while stirring with a spoon or your hands until the dough starts coming together. - Knead the Dough:
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add a little extra flour if the dough is too sticky. - Rest the Dough:
Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Let it rest for 15–20 minutes. This helps make the pitas soft and pliable. - Shape the Pitas:
Divide the dough into 6–8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten with a rolling pin into circles about 1/4 inch thick. - Cook the Pitas:
Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Place a dough circle in the hot pan and cook for 1–2 minutes on each side, or until puffed and lightly golden. Repeat with remaining pieces. - Serve:
Stack the pitas in a clean kitchen towel to keep them soft. Serve warm with dips, sandwiches, or your favorite fillings.
These pitas are soft, slightly chewy, and perfect for quick homemade sandwiches.
