Creamy Sausage Tortellini Bake (3-Ingredient Comfort Dinner)
This easy, hearty casserole is perfect when you want a warm homemade meal without spending much time in the kitchen. With only three simple ingredients, it bakes into a creamy, satisfying dish with tender tortellini and flavorful sausage.
Servings
4–6 servings
Ingredients
1 lb (450 g) ground Italian sausage (mild or hot)
1 jar (20–24 oz / 560–680 g) creamy Alfredo sauce
1 package (20–24 oz / 560–680 g) refrigerated cheese tortellini
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or similar casserole dish.
2. Cook the Sausage
Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the Italian sausage and cook until fully browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
Drain any excess grease if necessary.
3. Add the Sauce
Pour the Alfredo sauce into the skillet with the cooked sausage.
Stir well and let it warm for 1–2 minutes so the flavors combine.
4. Add the Tortellini
Add the refrigerated cheese tortellini directly to the skillet.
Stir gently so all the pasta is coated in the creamy sauce.
(No need to boil the tortellini first — it cooks in the oven.)
5. Assemble the Casserole
Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
6. Bake
Cover the dish tightly with foil.
Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the tortellini is tender and the sauce is bubbling.
7. Brown the Top
Remove the foil and bake 5–10 minutes more to lightly brown the top and thicken the sauce.
8. Rest and Serve
Let the casserole rest 5 minutes before serving so it sets slightly.
Serve warm straight from the dish.
Serving Suggestions
This dish is rich and creamy, so simple sides work best:
Fresh green salad with vinaigrette
Garlic bread
Buttered dinner rolls
Steamed green beans or roasted broccoli
Variations & Tips
Use spicy Italian sausage for more flavor.
Add frozen peas or mixed vegetables before baking for extra color.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella or Parmesan on top during the last 5 minutes for a cheesy crust.
Add a splash of milk or cream if you want the sauce a little thinner.
