Easy Flake Biscuits Recipe

Easy Flake Biscuits Recipe
Ingredients:
- 250g softened margarine or butter
- ¾ cup icing sugar (powdered sugar)
- ½ cup vegetable or sunflower oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- ½ cup cornflour (cornstarch)
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 3 cups cake flour or plain flour
- 3–4 Flake chocolates, crumbled
- 200g melted chocolate (for dipping or drizzling)
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven:
Set your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2. Cream butter and sugar:
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and icing sugar until light, fluffy, and pale in color.
3. Add the wet ingredients:
Pour in the oil and vanilla essence, mixing until smooth and well blended.
4. Combine the dry ingredients:
In a separate bowl, sift together the cornflour, cocoa powder, and flour. Gradually add this mixture to the creamed butter, stirring until a soft, smooth dough forms.
5. Add the Flake chocolate:
Gently fold in the crumbled Flake pieces, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
6. Shape the biscuits:
Take small portions of the dough and roll them into balls or shape them into logs or discs—whatever you prefer.
Arrange them on the prepared tray, leaving a little space between each biscuit.
7. Bake:
Place the tray in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the biscuits are slightly firm around the edges.
(Remember—they’ll continue to set as they cool.)
8. Cool completely:
Allow the biscuits to cool on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack until fully cooled.
9. Dip or drizzle in chocolate:
Once cooled, dip half of each biscuit into the melted chocolate, or drizzle it artistically over the top.
Leave to set at room temperature or chill briefly in the fridge.
Serving Tip
Serve these rich, buttery chocolate biscuits with a warm cup of tea or coffee. They’re perfect for dessert platters, afternoon treats, or elegant homemade gifts.
