Sloppy Joe Biscuit Casserole
A warm, hearty, family-friendly casserole made with savory Sloppy Joe filling and fluffy biscuits baked on top. Comfort food at its best!
Ingredients
Sloppy Joe Filling
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, diced (optional)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup tomato sauce or 1 can (about 15 oz) Sloppy Joe sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
- Salt & pepper to taste
Biscuit Topping
- 12 oz refrigerated biscuits (like Pillsbury)
- 1 to 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
1️⃣ Cook the Beef
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
- Add diced onion, bell pepper, and garlic; cook 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Drain excess grease.
2️⃣ Make the Sloppy Joe Sauce
- Add tomato sauce (or canned Sloppy Joe sauce), ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper.
- Stir everything well and let the mixture simmer for 5–7 minutes, until thickened.
3️⃣ Assemble the Casserole
- Spread the Sloppy Joe mixture evenly into a baking dish (9×9 or 9×13).
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Cut each biscuit into quarters and place evenly over the cheese.
4️⃣ Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
5️⃣ Serve
Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes, then serve warm.
