Deep Dish Pizza

 

 

Ingredients:

 

For the Dough:

 

3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

 

1 teaspoon salt

 

1 tablespoon sugar

 

2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)

 

1 ¼ cups warm water

 

3 tablespoons olive oil

 

For the Filling:

 

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

 

½ pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled

 

½ cup sliced pepperoni

 

1 cup pizza sauce

 

½ teaspoon dried oregano

 

½ teaspoon garlic powder

 

¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

 

 

 

Directions:

 

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Lightly grease a deep 9-inch round pan or cast-iron skillet.

 

Prepare the dough by mixing warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until slightly foamy. Stir in olive oil, flour, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms. Knead for 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let rise for 30–45 minutes.

 

Prepare the filling by cooking the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain any extra grease.

 

Assemble by pressing the dough into the prepared pan, pushing it up the sides. Layer mozzarella cheese on the bottom first, then sausage and pepperoni. Spread pizza sauce evenly on top. Sprinkle with oregano, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese.

 

Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly. If the top browns too quickly, loosely cover with foil.

 

Garnish and serve by letting the pizza rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy every cheesy, hearty bite!
