This comforting cabbage and ground meat skillet is a simple yet deeply satisfying dish made with tender cabbage, well-seasoned meat, and aromatic spices. It’s a budget-friendly, one-pan meal that comes together quickly and can easily be customized with your favorite vegetables and flavors. Ingredients:

1 medium cabbage, chopped

1 lb (500 g) ground beef, pork, or a mix

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 can diced tomatoes (optional)

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon ground cumin

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Chili flakes (optional, for heat)

Fresh parsley or dill, for garnish

 

 

 

Instructions:

1. Prepare the cabbage:

Remove the tough core from the cabbage and chop the leaves into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.

2. Cook the meat:

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground meat and cook for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.

3. Add aromatics:

Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3–4 minutes, until softened and fragrant.

4. Season the mixture:

Add paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and chili flakes (if using). Stir well to evenly coat the meat.

5. Cook the cabbage:

Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and mix everything together. Cover and cook for 10–20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage becomes tender and slightly caramelized.

 

 

 

 

6. Add tomatoes (optional):

If using, stir in the diced tomatoes and let the mixture simmer for another 8–10 minutes to deepen the flavor.

7. Serve:

Once the cabbage is soft and everything is well combined, remove from heat. Garnish with fresh parsley or dill and serve hot.
