Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

1 lb (450g) ground beef

1/4 cup (30g) breadcrumbs

1 egg

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup (60ml) milk

1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon paprika

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Potato Bake:

1 tablespoon olive oil

4 medium potatoes (about 900g), thinly sliced

1 cup (240ml) heavy cream

1 1/2 cups (170g) shredded cheddar cheese

1/2 cup (50g) shredded mozzarella cheese

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat & Prepare

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a large baking dish.

Make the Meatballs

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, milk, Parmesan cheese, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until everything is well incorporated.

Shape

Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1–1.5 inches (2.5–4 cm) in size.

Brown the Meatballs

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about 5–7 minutes. They don’t need to be fully cooked yet. Set aside.

Layer the Potatoes

Arrange a layer of thinly sliced potatoes at the bottom of the baking dish. Lightly season with salt and pepper.

Assemble the Dish

Place the browned meatballs evenly over the potatoes. Pour the heavy cream over everything, letting it soak into the layers.

Add the Cheese

Sprinkle cheddar and mozzarella cheese evenly on top.

Bake Covered

Cover the dish with foil and bake for 40 minutes, allowing the potatoes to soften.

Finish Baking

Remove the foil and bake for another 15–20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly, melted, and lightly golden.

Rest & Serve

Let the dish rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
