Old-Fashioned 4-Ingredient Strawberry Pie

Old-Fashioned 4-Ingredient Strawberry Pie (A Simple Springtime Favorite)

Every year, as the weather softens and picnic season begins, Aunt Clara arrives with her signature strawberry pie. It’s a humble, Amish-inspired recipe made with just four ingredients—fresh strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and a ready-made pie crust. With only 10 minutes of prep, this pie proves that simple can be absolutely unforgettable.

The filling bakes into a thick, glossy layer bursting with sweet-tart flavor, while the crust turns golden and lightly crisp. It’s the kind of nostalgic dessert that brings back memories of warm spring days and family gatherings.

Ingredients

1 prepared pie crust (store-bought or homemade)

4 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and halved

3/4 cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons cornstarch

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Crimp the edges as desired.

In a large bowl, gently toss the strawberries with sugar and cornstarch until evenly coated.

Pour the strawberry mixture into the prepared crust, spreading it evenly.

Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the filling is bubbling and thickened, and the crust is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and allow the pie to cool completely at room temperature so the filling can set properly.

Serving Suggestions

Serve at room temperature for clean slices and the best texture. This pie pairs beautifully with picnic classics like grilled chicken, potato salad, and baked beans.

For an extra touch, serve with a side of softly whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream—but keep it on the side so the vibrant red filling stays the star.

A cup of coffee, iced tea, or a cold glass of milk complements the sweet, fresh flavor perfectly.

Servings: 8 slices

Simple, rustic, and full of charm—this strawberry pie is the taste of spring in every bite.
