Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions | Better-Than-Takeout Stir-Fry!

Tender slices of beef, colorful bell peppers, and sweet caramelized onions come together in this bold and flavorful Chinese-style pepper steak. Quick to make and packed with savory sauce, it’s the perfect weeknight dinner served over steamed rice.

 

 

 

Ingredients:

1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 teaspoon minced garlic

1 teaspoon minced ginger

1 green bell pepper, sliced

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

 

 

 

Sauce:

3 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 cup beef broth (or water)

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions:

Marinate the sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, garlic, and ginger for 15–20 minutes.

Heat oil in a pan or wok over high heat and quickly stir-fry the beef until browned. Remove and set aside.

In the same pan, add onions and bell peppers and cook until slightly tender but still crisp.

Pour in the sauce mixture and bring to a simmer.

Return the beef to the pan and toss everything together until well coated and glossy.

Cook for another 2–3 minutes, then serve hot over rice.
