BBQ Baked Chicken Drumsticks

 

 

 

Ingredients:

8 chicken drumsticks

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

1 tsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika)

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)

1 tbsp honey (optional, for extra caramelized glaze)

1 tsp apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (optional, balances sweetness)

 

 

 

Instructions:

1️⃣ Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top (this helps crisp the skin). Lightly grease the rack.

2️⃣ Season the Chicken

Pat the drumsticks dry with paper towels (this is key for crispy skin).

In a large bowl, toss the drumsticks with:

Olive oil

Garlic powder

Onion powder

Paprika

Salt and pepper

Coat evenly on all sides.

3️⃣ First Bake (Without Sauce)

Arrange drumsticks on the rack, leaving space between them.

Bake for 35–40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the skin is golden and slightly crispy.

4️⃣ Add the BBQ Glaze

In a small bowl, mix BBQ sauce with honey and vinegar (if using).

Brush a generous layer over each drumstick.

Return to oven and bake 10–15 more minutes, until the sauce is sticky and caramelized.

For extra char, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end (watch carefully so it doesn’t burn).

 

 

 

Check for Doneness

Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).

Tips for Extra Flavor:

Marinate chicken in seasoning for 2–4 hours before baking.
