Cinnamon Roll Apple Lasagna

A warm, gooey dessert layered with spiced apples, creamy cheesecake filling, and soft cinnamon rolls—pure comfort in every bite!

This dessert is perfect for holidays, family gatherings, or when you want something impressive but easy. Think apple pie + cinnamon rolls + cheesecake, all baked into one irresistible dish.

 

 

 

Ingredients

Apple Filling

4 cups apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced (about 600 g)

(Granny Smith for tartness or Honeycrisp for sweetness work best)

⅓ cup brown sugar (70 g), packed

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (2 g)

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg (0.5 g)

1 tablespoon lemon juice (15 ml)

1 tablespoon cornstarch (8 g)

Cinnamon Roll Layers

2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (17 oz total / 480 g)

(Use classic rolls, not jumbo)

Icing packets from the cans (set aside)

Creamy Cheesecake Layer

8 oz cream cheese, softened (225 g)

¼ cup granulated sugar (50 g)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract (5 ml)

Optional Topping

2 tablespoons melted butter (28 g)

¼ cup chopped pecans or walnuts (30 g)

 

 

 

Directions

1️⃣ Prepare the Oven & Pan

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)

Generously grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray

2️⃣ Make the Apple Filling

In a large bowl, combine:

Sliced apples

Brown sugar

Cinnamon

Nutmeg

Lemon juice

Cornstarch

Toss until apples are evenly coated.

The cornstarch helps thicken the juices as it bakes, creating a luscious apple layer.

3️⃣ Prepare the Creamy Layer

In a mixing bowl:

Beat cream cheese until smooth and fluffy

Add granulated sugar and vanilla extract

Mix until creamy, smooth, and spreadable

No lumps—this layer should be silky like cheesecake batter.

4️⃣ Slice the Cinnamon Rolls

Separate cinnamon rolls and slice each roll into 3–4 round pieces

This helps them bake evenly and form soft “lasagna-style” layers.

5️⃣ Assemble the Lasagna Layers

First Layer

Arrange half of the cinnamon roll slices evenly in the bottom of the dish

Spread half of the cream cheese mixture gently over the rolls

Spoon half of the apple filling evenly on top

Second Layer

Repeat with remaining cinnamon rolls

Spread remaining cream cheese mixture

Finish with the rest of the apples on top

6️⃣ Add the Topping (Optional but Recommended)

Drizzle melted butter over the top

Sprinkle with chopped nuts for crunch and flavor

7️⃣ Bake

Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes

Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes

The top should be golden, apples tender, and cinnamon rolls fully cooked.

8️⃣ Ice & Serve

Warm icing packets slightly (10–15 seconds in microwave)

Drizzle generously over the hot lasagna

Let rest 10 minutes before slicing
