Ingredients

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1½ cups granulated sugar

3 large eggs

1 cup buttermilk

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ teaspoon salt

Ground nutmeg, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Fit the pie crust into a 9-inch pie dish and crimp the edges as desired.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth.

Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition.

Stir in the buttermilk, flour, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt until the mixture is fully combined and silky smooth.

Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.

Lightly sprinkle the surface with ground nutmeg, if using.

Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is lightly golden.

Remove from the oven and allow the pie to cool completely on a wire rack.

Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to achieve the perfect creamy texture.

Serving Suggestions

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Top with freshly whipped cream and a sprinkle of nutmeg.
