Creamy Ham & Cheese Scalloped Potatoes
Golden layers of tender potatoes, savory ham, and melted cheese baked in a rich creamy sauce… this comforting casserole is pure homemade happiness. Perfect for family dinners, holidays, or whenever you crave something warm and satisfying!
Ingredients
5 large potatoes, thinly sliced
200 g ham, diced or cut into strips
2 cups heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)
2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons butter
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon paprika
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish with butter.
In a skillet, melt the butter and sauté the onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.
Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Season lightly with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Add half of the ham, then sprinkle with cheese. Pour part of the cream over the layers.
Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, ham, cheese, and cream.
Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil and bake for another 20–25 minutes until the top is golden, bubbly, and the potatoes are tender.
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Extra Tip: For an even crispier golden top, broil for the last 2–3 minutes!
