Old-Fashioned Peach Cobbler (Serves 6–8)
Ingredients
For the Peach Filling:
4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
(or canned peaches, well-drained)
½ cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon lemon juice
For the Cobbler Batter:
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
½ cup milk (whole milk preferred)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional (but Delicious):
Pinch of nutmeg
1 tablespoon brown sugar for topping
Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat & Prepare
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or similar casserole dish
2️⃣ Prepare the Peaches
In a bowl, mix:
Peaches
½ cup sugar
Cinnamon
Lemon juice
Stir gently and set aside for 10 minutes to let the juices release
3️⃣ Make the Batter
In a separate bowl:
Whisk flour, remaining ½ cup sugar, baking powder, and salt
Add melted butter, milk, and vanilla
Stir until smooth (batter will be thick but pourable)
4️⃣ Assemble the Cobbler
Pour batter evenly into prepared baking dish
Spoon peaches and all their juices evenly over the batter
Do NOT stir — this creates the classic cobbler crust
Sprinkle brown sugar on top if using
5️⃣ Bake
Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes
Top should be golden brown and edges bubbling
6️⃣ Cool & Serve
Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving
Serve warm for best flavor
