Paula Deen’s “Not Yo’ Mama’s Banana Pudding” – The Ultimate Creamy Dessert
This famous banana pudding by Paula Deen is rich, creamy, and completely irresistible. It combines cream cheese, pudding, and whipped topping for a fluffy texture that’s far better than traditional banana pudding. No baking required!
Ingredients (Serves 8–10)
1 package (225 g) cream cheese, softened
1 can (397 g) sweetened condensed milk
1 package (96 g) instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups (480 ml) cold milk
1 container (225 g) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
4–5 ripe bananas, sliced
1 box vanilla wafers (about 300 g)
Instructions
Step 1: Make the cream mixture
In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
Add sweetened condensed milk and mix until fully combined and creamy.
Step 2: Prepare the pudding
In another bowl, whisk together the instant pudding mix and cold milk.
Mix for about 2 minutes until thick.
Step 3: Combine mixtures
Add the pudding mixture to the cream cheese mixture.
Mix until smooth.
Gently fold in the whipped topping until light and fluffy.
Step 4: Layer the pudding
In a large serving dish, add a layer of vanilla wafers.
Add a layer of banana slices.
Spread a layer of pudding mixture.
Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.
Finish with pudding on top.
Step 5: Chill
Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours (overnight is best).
This allows the flavors to blend and the wafers to soften.
