Sunshine Orange-Almond Thumbprint Cookies  (Soft, Chewy & Naturally Fragrant)

These delightful thumbprint cookies are soft, nutty, and bursting with fresh orange aroma. Made with almond flour and bright citrus, they’re naturally gluten-free and perfect for a light sweet treat.

 

 

 

Ingredients

2 cups (200g) almond flour

½ cup (100g) granulated sugar

A pinch of salt (about ⅛ tsp)

Zest of ½ orange

2 tablespoons fresh orange juice (from ½ orange)

2 large egg whites

A few drops of almond extract (optional, but highly recommended for extra flavor)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

 

 

 

 

In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, sugar, salt, and orange zest. Stir well to distribute the flavors evenly.

Add the egg whites, orange juice, and almond extract (if using). Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.

Scoop small portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the baking tray, leaving space between each cookie.

Gently press your thumb into the center of each ball to create a small indentation (the “thumbprint”).

Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges turn lightly golden.

Let the cookies cool completely—they will firm up as they rest.

Serving Idea

Fill the center with a little orange marmalade, melted dark chocolate, or almond cream for an extra indulgent touch.
