A treasured family recipe passed down for generations, these fluffy sweet rolls are filled with buttery goodness, dried fruits, crunchy almonds, and a hint of fresh orange zest. Perfect for breakfast, tea time, or a cozy homemade dessert!

Ingredients

For the Dough

2 eggs

200 ml (1 cup) warm milk

600 g (2 ½ cups) all-purpose flour

80 ml (⅓ cup) vegetable oil

45 g (¼ cup) sugar

½ tsp salt

1½ tsp dry yeast

For the Filling & Topping

Sugar, for sprinkling

Butter (1 tsp for each roll)

Tutti frutti

Raisins

Chopped almonds

Fresh orange zest

Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Add the eggs, oil, and salt, then gradually mix in the flour until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

2. Shape the Rolls

Punch down the dough and divide it into equal portions.

Roll each piece into a small circle or oval. Spread about 1 teaspoon of butter over each piece, then sprinkle with sugar, raisins, tutti frutti, chopped almonds, and orange zest.

Roll them up tightly and place them on a lined baking tray.

Cover again and let them rest for 20–30 minutes.

3. Bake

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

Bake the rolls for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and beautifully puffed.

Serving Suggestion

Serve warm with tea, coffee, or a glass of milk. These sweet rolls are incredibly soft on the inside with a lightly crisp sugary top — a nostalgic homemade treat everyone will love!

Tip: Brush the warm rolls with melted butter right after baking for extra softness and shine.
