– ½ teaspoon salt
– ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– ¾ cup whole milk
– ½ cup thick caramel sauce
For the Caramel Topping
– ½ cup caramel sauce
– 2 tablespoons heavy cream
– Pinch of sea salt (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9-inch round or square baking pan.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4. Add the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, alternating with the milk, until a smooth batter forms.
6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter and gently swirl with a knife.
7. Add the remaining batter and repeat with the rest of the caramel sauce, creating beautiful swirls.
8. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes.
10. Warm the remaining caramel sauce with the heavy cream, then generously drizzle it over the cake. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt if desired.
