Ingredients
1 ½ cups (190 g) all-purpose flour
½ cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
2 large eggs
¾ cup (150 g) granulated sugar
½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
1 cup (240 ml) milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
½ cup (90 g) chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a separate large bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and smooth.
Add the oil, milk, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
Stir in the chocolate chips if using.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Optional Chocolate Glaze
½ cup (90 g) chocolate chips
2 tbsp heavy cream
Melt together until smooth, then drizzle over the cooled cake for an extra indulgent finish.
